Hope Animal Resource Center sponsors low-price, mobile spay/neuter and vaccine clinics for dogs and cats owned by low-to-moderate income Philadelphia residents. With the support of our community partners (Caring People Alliance, the New Kensington Community Development Corporation, and the veterinary technicians and advanced veterinary technology students of the Veterinary Technology program of Harcum College), Hope brings spay/neuter and vaccine services into Philadelphia neighborhoods. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs in city shelters by making spay/neuter services accessible and affordable for low-to-moderate income pet owners. Hope clinics are made possible by a generous grant from the ASPCA.
Our next available clinic appointments are on:
Saturday, October 2nd, at the Fels Community Center (2407 South Broad Street) in South Philadelphia. Now taking appointments for male and female cats and small dogs for surgery.Vaccine appointments for already-altered cats and dogs are also available.
(If your cat or dog is already spayed/neutered and you just need vaccines, please contact us. Even when we indicate we are sold out for surgical appointments, we usually have excellent availability at all clinics for vaccine-only appointments.)
To make an appointment, to be placed on our waiting list for the above listed appointment dates, or to be contacted when we know the date of our next available surgery appointments, please send an e-mail to spayneuter@hopeanimalresourcecenter.org or call 1-800-738-4673 and tell us your name, address, phone number, and the breed, age and gender of your pet. We will then contact you within five business days. Please be sure to provide your mailing address to expedite the registration process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is eligible for your clinics?Clinic services are available only to residents of Philadelphia who meet eligibility requirements. Eligibility is determined based on annual household income, which must be less than $35,000 per year. Pet owners who can provide valid ID and proof of public assistance (such as welfare, Medicaid, SSI, disability, food stamps or public housing) are also eligible for services. Proof of income is required.
What animals can be brought to the spay/neuter clinic?We can perform spay/neuter surgery on healthy cats and dogs that are at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 pounds. Due to size limitations in the mobile clinic, dogs cannot weigh more than 30 pounds.
How does the clinic work?*Surgery through our clinics is same-day, meaning you drop off your pet in the morning and pick him/her up in the afternoon.
*Drop-off is between 8:45 am and 10:00 am; your particular appointment time will be assigned when we make an appointment for you.
*Pick-up times vary (they are based on how long it takes each animal to wake up in recovery), but are typically between 12 noon and 3pm. Please plan to be available all day for your pet. You will be called when your pet is ready to go home. You must be available to pick up your animal within 30 minutes of being called. For each half hour you are late beyond the half-hour allotted for travel to the clinic, you will be charged a fee of $10.00. By charging this fee, we insure that all recovering animals are picked up in a timely manner, allow our volunteers to go home on time, and keep our community center rental fees low. All late fees support service subsidies.
What other services do you offer?In addition to spay/neuter surgeries we offer: rabies and distemper vaccines, heartworm tests (for dogs), feline leukemia/FIV tests (for cats), nail clipping, ear tipping, and microchipping. We do not offer declawing services.
What animals can be brought to receive services other than spay/neuter surgery?Cats and dogs are accepted and must already be spayed/neutered in order to take advantage of our low-cost vaccines/microchips/testing services.
Do you accept feral cats?Our clinics are specifically designed to serve owned pets and are unable to accept feral cats. For more information about feral-specific clinics in Philadelphia visit http://www.phillycats.org/ or send an e-mail to clinic@phillycats.org .
What do I need to bring on the day of the clinic?*Cash for payment for services.
*If you have arranged with a clinic coordinator to receive our most discounted prices, bring proof of public assistance and a photo ID. If you are bringing a pet for someone on public assistance who is unable to come to the clinic, you must have that person\'s photo ID and proof of public assistance.
*All cats must be brought in carriers, with one cat per carrier. Each carrier must have a towel in the bottom for the cat to lie on. Dogs must be leashed; please bring a crate for your dog if you have one.

Microchips: $25.00 each
Nail clipping: $5.00
